Hello everyone, here are photos from this morning. The one of G holding the ice chest is actually my favorite, though it’s poor quality. He insisted on carrying the ice chest from the car to the picnic table which was quite a ways and it was pretty heavy. As we approached the tables he started trying to pass it off to anyone, sort of kiddingly but sort of not!
Fun fun morning, we enjoyed our picnic at Cherry Knolls park, got in a little walking, then headed to Chatfield State Park for more time outdoors.
The beach there was really pretty, and I was happy my whole crew was up for walking in the sand toward the water. I wish we’d had more time, we were all enjoying ourselves, watching the children play in the lake, and paddleboarders and kayakers and a dog wearing a life jacket! Then a scenic drive on our way to lunch, we drove up into Deer Creek Canyon. Music in the car today was exceptional, it’s always wonderful to observe the joy it brings us, but today was a riot. The highlight for me was “I Will Survive”, J about went through the roof she was so happy, belting out the tune, with J clapping and dancing, and G singing backup. When J realized G, who was behind her, was also singing, to what she probably thinks of as a pretty feminist song, she was thrilled. “Even the guys are singing!” G and J talked for quite a while about Billy Joel, I had no idea what a fan G is!
Lunch today was at Blackbird Tavern and Café, with that table we like so much, right alongside the river. We had a waitress who always treats us so well, all was good, then back down the hill and headed home. Smooth sailing today.
